For children and adults who like to swim, there are many alternatives in Storsjö/Ljungdalen. Swimming in a shallow mountain lake with sandy beach surrounded by mountain views is a truly special experience.

Storsjö:

“Badviken” – the village’s bathing facility, is located in the middle of the village. It is a small sandy beach surrounded by birches, picnic tables and a slide for the smaller ones. In the water there are platforms from which the children can jump into the water. The river Ljungan has its flow just outside, but inside the bay the water can get really hot. Signs from the road indicate where it is located.

Hengrundet – this bathing site can only be reached by boat. Hengrundet is about 8 km from the village. It is Henån that flows into the lake and the sand that comes with the river gatheres into long sandy reefs, resulting in shallow sandy beaches. From  Hengrundet you have a fantastic view of the mountain world.

Ljungdalen:

Viksjön – Along the road up to Flatruet, about 4 km from the village, you will find Viksjön with its sandy beach and fantastic mountain views. You see the whole Helagsfjället while swimming out into the lake. An evening dip in the sunset with the mountains in the background is a wonderful experience.

Ljungan – in many places in the village it is possible to swim in the river Ljungan. Why not swim below a waterfall or in a perfectly natural “whirlpool” formed by Ljungan’s running water. You just need to find your favourite place!

The swimming pool – For those who prefer to swim indoors, there is the bathhouse in Ljungdalen with a swimming pool, shower and sauna (read more under Service).
